Hmong on the Mekong

Hmong on the Mekong

The entire community helps each other in Laos, a country where everything just barely works and aesthetics are of no concern. It’s the support and generosity for each other that makes things so beautiful. On a two-day boat ride up the Mekong River from Thailand to Laos, the boat carrying 150 people broke down. The captain undressed to his skinnies and dove under the propeller, young boys worked quickly and the whole village came down to the banks of the water to offer supplies. Sounds like a stressful scene, yes, but these people don’t worry.
